Switched-On Pride

Saturday, May 29, 2027 | 7 p.m.

Sunday, May 30, 2027 | 4 p.m.

Temple of Music and Art | 330 S Scott Ave, Tucson, AZ 85701

Join Desert Voices for our premiere performance at the Temple of Music and Art! Help us get the pride season started by celebrating Wendy Carlos, an American composer and iconic figure of both electronic music and LGBTQ+ history. Today, Carlos is most known for her scores of the iconic films A Clockwork Orange, The Shining, and Tron. In 1979, Carlos made history and raised public awareness of trans issues by disclosing that she had been living as a woman for over a decade and had undergone gender-reaffirming surgery. The concert title is a play on her groundbreaking 1968 album, “Switched-On Bach,” which turned the classical music world on its head and paved the way for electronic instruments, especially synthesizers, to be used in popular music. This engaging concert will keep audiences of all ages moving to the beat with an engaging variety of iconic pop and electronic hits from the 70s to today that celebrate pride and showcase Wendy’s achievements.

Tickets will be available in the spring.
