Sing With Us!
Interested in singing with Desert Voices this season? Stop by our open rehearsals and see what we are all about. Our unique non-audition LGBTQIA+ and Ally chorus welcomes all voices regardless of choral experience, age, gender, race, creed, or sexuality.
If you are planning on attending our Open Rehearsals, let us know you are coming by scheduling a voice check! Any questions can be emailed to [email protected]
All potential new members must sign up for a voice check and attend at least one of the open rehearsals! We will also send you music and practice tracks in advance of the open rehearsals so you have some time to get familiar with what we will sing.
Our upcoming June concert “Curtain Up!” is a celebration of old and new classics from musical theater and film. Join us and sing selections from Wicked, Sunday in the Park with George, West Side Story, Hamilton, Dear Evan Hansen, Rocky Horror Picture Show, Wizard of Oz, Willie Wonka, The Wiz, Chicago, Rent, 42nd Street, and more! Check out this youtube playlist for a preview of what’s to come.
Open Rehearsals
Rincon Congregational UCC
122 N Craycroft Rd, Tucson AZ 85711
All potential new members are highly encouraged to schedule a voice check before attending an open rehearsal. Even if you have a lot of choral experience, it is a way that we can get to meet you and learn more about you! It is also a way for you to learn more about us!
Open rehearsals are also regular rehearsals for the chorus. If you attend the first open rehearsal and have a great time, please attend the second open rehearsal as you will still learn music for our concert. After attending the open rehearsals, we hope you will join us in Desert Voices! A profile for Choir Genius (which contains music, practice tracks, chorus updates, and necessary forms) will be created for you.

Desert Voices is a mixed choir where singers are placed into soprano, alto, tenor, and bass sections. Within those sections are splits for higher and lower singers. In order for you to know which part you are singing for open rehearsal and the season, a voice check is necessary! Please fill out this Questionnaire and schedule your voice check!
What to expect:
Your voice check will happen with the Artistic Director, Assistant Director, and accompanist. No one else is present! You will be asked about your experience and we will have you sing some vocals so we can figure out your range and vocal timbre. We will then ask you to sing back a few pitches after you listen to them on the piano. With this information, we will then assign you a part (soprano 1, soprano 2, tenor 1, etc.). Singing in a voice range that is comfortable and fits your voice is the goal.
